Brow Lift in Carmel & Indianapolis
Open tired, heavy eyes and smooth a lined forehead with an endoscopic brow lift — a minimally invasive technique that does not raise the hairline.
What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift (also called a forehead lift) is a surgical procedure that elevates the brows to a more youthful position, smooths horizontal forehead wrinkles, and opens the eye area. As we age, the brows gradually descend and the forehead develops deep horizontal lines — creating an appearance of fatigue, anger, or sadness that does not reflect how we feel.
Dr. Aker performs an endoscopic brow lift using a camera-assisted technique with small incisions hidden within the hairline. This minimally invasive approach provides long-lasting results with significantly less scarring and recovery time than older open (coronal) brow lift techniques. The brows are repositioned to their correct anatomical height and secured with internal fixation.
Endoscopic Brow Lift Technique
Dr. Aker's endoscopic brow lift uses 3–5 small incisions (approximately 1–2 cm each) placed within the hairline. A miniature camera (endoscope) is inserted through one incision to visualize the tissues, while instruments are guided through the other incisions to release the brow attachments and elevate the forehead.
Once the brow is elevated to its target position, it is secured with internal fixation devices that dissolve over time after the tissue heals in place. The small incisions are closed with sutures or staples and are hidden within the hair. There is no long coronal incision running across the top of the scalp, and the hairline is not raised. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1–2 hours.
Who Is a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Good candidates for brow lift surgery typically present with the following. In some cases, brow descent is contributing to the appearance of upper eyelid heaviness, and Dr. Aker carefully evaluates whether brow lift, blepharoplasty, or a combination approach best addresses your concerns.
- Heavy or low-positioned brows that create a tired or angry appearance
- Deep horizontal forehead lines that persist even at rest
- Asymmetric brows — one side noticeably lower than the other
- Upper eyelid heaviness partly caused by descended brows (rather than excess eyelid skin alone)
- Good general health and non-smoking status
- Realistic expectations about outcome and recovery

Learn About the Recovery SuiteBrow Lift Recovery Timeline
Recovery is gradual, with steady improvement over the weeks that follow. Strenuous activity is restricted for 3–4 weeks, and scalp sensation typically returns gradually over several weeks to months. What to expect:
- Days 1–3: swelling and bruising around the forehead and eyes; some temporary numbness of the scalp
- Week 1: sutures or staples removed; swelling begins to resolve
- Weeks 1–2: most patients return to work and light social activities
- 2–4 weeks: bruising fully resolved; most swelling subsided
- 3–6 months: final results visible as residual swelling resolves and brow position fully stabilizes
